ABOUT THE CONTENTS OF THIS CD-ROM

The purpose of this initiative is to offer as broad a range of organisations as possible the opportunity to share their documents with others, using the WSSD context as a means to focus these materials. The CD contains approximately 1500 documents, which fall into the following categories:

• General commentaries: Overviews of what the Summit could achieve; assessments of its impact; and explanations of what the whole process was about.
  
• Issue-specific material: Input focusing on particular issues that were (or should have been) on the Summit agenda - e.g. forestry, corporate accountability, poverty eradication, environmental rights etc.
  
• Meeting reports: Records of WSSD-related events, including parallel events held during the Summit.
  
• Focused pieces looking particularly at initiatives addressing implementation of the Millennium Development Goals – including the new sanitation target, the WEHAB agenda (water, energy, health, agriculture and biodiversity), and ‘Type 2’ partnerships agreed at the Summit.
  
• ‘Type 2’ partnership updates: providing information on the initiatives launched at Johannesburg and also assessments of this significant element of the WSSD process.
