Wine is an interesting topic when it comes to sustainability. Ask any wine of the month club and they can tell you that Styrofoam is a cheaper packing material than cardboard, but the conversation is much more involved than that.
The stopper is an interesting topic. Are natural cork stoppers really better than 100% recyclable fake cork? Does your answer change if you know that all the cork which is used is shipped from Portugal?
What about shipping and those costs to the environment when it comes to pollution? As nice as it is to buy American, if you live on the east coast your wine from California is shipped on a truck across the country while European wine is creating much less emissions on a boat.
Interesting set of topics isn’t it?
What do you think?
